Gertrude Bowles better known as Gertie passed away Wednesday June 23, 2010. Funeral service will be Wednesday June 30th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the Gallatin Cemetery with Brandon Fisher, Jason Templeton, Tyler Stack, Zachary Ferguson, Shannon Brinkley, Blake Stack and Jeremy Baker serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Sunday June 27th 1-8 p.m. and Monday 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Gertie was born in Gallatin, Tennessee on April 1, 1936 daughter of the late Hershall Brinkley and Rosie Lee Smith Brinkley. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas “Tom” Gentry Bowles and one son Grady Templeton. She was the owner and operator of Gertie’s Restaurant in Gallatin for eight years. She is survived by three daughters Cathy Ann Fisher and husband Stewart of Columbia, Lee Ellen Templeton and Tommie Jean Bowles both of Gallatin, one stepson Billy Templeton and one stepdaughter Starr Corker and husband Ralph all of Gallatin, one brother Paul Brinkley and wife Faye of Hendersonville and one sister Virginia Brewster and husband Floyd of Franklin, KY, 6 grandchildren, Ashlee Baker, Brandon Fisher, Zachary Ferguson, Jason Templeton, Sherry Kay Stack, and Charles Templeton and 7 great grandchildren.
